This year will be the 23rd year for the Kelowna Apple Triathlon,
just about 45 minutes from Big White.
Every year Kelowna welcomes some of the most elite athletes from all
over the world to the sunny Okanagan to compete in this rigorous
event. Held over a weekend in August, this year it is August 20-21,
this event draws crowds all over the city. Come down and cheer on
the athletes as they compete for the crown. Also this year, the

purse, as well as the Kelowna race being the Canadian National

Okanagan Wine Festival
Spring: 2006 May 4-7; 2007 May 3-6; 2008 May 1-4
Fall: 2005 Sept 30-Oct 9; 2006 Sept 29-Oct 8; 2007 Sept
28-Oct 7; 2008 Oct 2-12
The Okanagan Valley is world-renowned for its orchard country and
every year you can attend one of the many 100 plus events throughout
the Okanagan. This festival has been described as "one of Canada's
best small festivals" and it is growing all the time. This event is
held twice a year for those enthusiasts who appreciate the taste of
fabulous wine, great food and wonderful cultural events, once in the
Spring, at the beginning of May, so that all can enjoy the beautiful
sunny Okanagan early in the year, and again in the Fall. In fact,
the Fall Okanagan Wine Festival is the only wine festival in North
America that takes place during the heart of the grape harvest, a
unique cultural experience.
Most of the tours of the Okanagan wineries are free, and offer
tastings of some of the best wines in North America, surrounded by
the picturesque Okanagan Valley. All of these events happen just a
brisk 45 minute drive from Big White Mountain and for an event that
is ranked in the top 100 events continuously by the American Bus
Association, it is worth the visit!
